Todd Ingram - Now with weird colors

Since I couldn't make anything new to post the last few days, I decided to throw some colors on the Todd Ingram (the super powered vegan from Scott Pilgrim) sketch I had to post here. I'm going to blame this color scheme on sleep deprivation. Still, hope you enjoy! More to come soon!

Todd Ingram

Well, my scanner has decided to be a little bit of a party pooper this week and I haven't been able to use it. I'm hoping I can get whatever problem it has fixed this weekend so I can get on with work, but while it's not working, here's a photo of a drawing I did today and that I plan on coloring: it's Todd Ingram, the super-powered vegan from the Scott Pilgrim comics. Enjoy, and hopefully I'll have the colored version up soon!

21º FIBDA

For those of you that don't know, FIBDA - also known as Festival Internacional de BD da Amadora - is the main comic festival in Portugal. I never got the chance to go before, because it's kind of far from where I live, and it's not always possible to travel 600 km on a weekend, but finally this year I got to go. And as an invited author, to sign autographs and draw! It was a great experience. Not only did I get to share it with my talented better half Pedro Carvalho, but we got to see friends we don't get to see often, we got to meet other talented people and, most of all, we got to draw. A lot. Which is awesome. I met some really nice people who support my work ,and that really makes me want to keep pushing and keep going, no matter how hard it gets. It's not always easy, but events like this boost my confidence and my will power. So now I'll leave you with a little photo sum-up of the weekend I spent at FIBDA.

This is me, with my usual nobility, sat down and ready for the first signing to begin. GO!

Ah! Signing already. That's good. I was signing the first Zona Negra, so I think I as drawing a zombie.
It was the only zombie I drew, too. I felt proud.

Here's Pedro Carvalho and João Raz.

Here's the line-up of artists signing on Saturday. You can only see a little bit of my head, I'm behind Pedro.

After some long hours of drawing, what do artists do? Draw more, of course. We all went to dinner and couldn't help drawing all over. This part of the table was mine, Pedro's and Fil's.

On to day 2! Here's me and Paulo Marques. Photo courtesy of Bongop :)

Here I am again, totally focused on drawing the Hammer Killer. Whack! Photo courtesy of Nuno Neves.

Here's a super quick drawing of Scott Pilgrim I drew for Bongop!

Aaand here's a Atomic Robo I drew for someone else.

I don't have more photos for now, I spent all the time drawing and didn't take many photos. However, you can expect some more photos the next few days, since my friends will probably get me some more photos.

See you soon with some new scribbles!

Atomic Robo

I recently discovered the Atomic Robo comics and I have to say... I highly enjoy them. They're a lot of fun, Robo is a really cool character, and I absolutely love the art. I couldn't help doing a quick bit of fan art. Enjoy, and I highly recommend you read Atomic Robo!

Zona Negra 2

Alright, this information is a little bit more relevant to my portuguese watchers, but I'll keep it in english so everyone can understand it. The next issue of the alternative magazine Zona, Zona Negra 2, will be released on October 30th, on the Amadora BD festival. For those of you that don't know, Amadora BD is the largest festival dedicated to comics in Portugal, so this is pretty cool. Zona Negra 2 is focused on horror, and has 96 pages of comics and illustrations in black and white, dedicated to the theme. In addition to that, it features an interview with Manuel Alves, a long-term collaborator. The awesome cover for this issue, that you can check out below, was created by Ricardo Reis. I, along with many other artists, will be there signing autographs on October 30th and 31st, so if you're in the area, please stop by!

I collaborated with my friend, and co-creator of Kubrick's Garage, J.B. Martins, to create a 3-page comic. I can't show it to you yet - you'll have to buy Zona Negra 2 if you want to see it - but I can give you a little tease: here's a pannel from my comic.

This issue has a selection of works created by 28 authors:

So I recently watched Aachi and Ssipak...

It's a south-korean animated movie, and it's simultaneously one of the coolest and weirdest movies I've ever seen. Here's a super quick drawing of one of the characters. Enjoy!

Toy Story

Toy Story is one of my favorite franchises of all time, animated or otherwise. I saw the first one when I was 10 years old and now, as a grown up of 25, I saw the story come full circle with Toy Story 3. These are great movie, full of heart and humor, and with such a colorful cast of characters, that I felt sorry for never drawing Woody and Buzz - outside of their brief appearance on one of the Kubrick's Garage strips. Today I had a day off from work and decided to right that wrong. Here's a quick pic of Woody and Buzz I managed to put together in this lazy day that I've been long deserving. Hope you enjoy it!
